License Issue

We are experiencing different kind of license issue. Support ID: 03815269
Customer buys Veeam Availability for Nutanix 1 year ago for 5 VM. Customer also have 6 CPU Vmware license and deployed Veeam Backup & Replication Console. CPU based Veeam B&R Console have proxies and configured Windows repositories in production site and disaster recovery site.

Vmware virtual machines backed up production site and backup copies send to the disaster recovery site.
We are connected Nutanix Proxy to Veeam B&R Console. This way Nutanix backups stored same repository and we could send it disaster recovery via backup copy jobs.

After the Universal license has come 5 VM paid Nutanix Proxy license is not used. Nutanix proxy asks Veeam B&R console and selects free 5 instance. One Nutanix VM use 1.5 instance so free license is not enough.

We are opened a case and Veeam support told us “You are using CPU based license. You need to new backup & replication console, send Nutanix backups to different Veeam B&R Console.”

Actually we can not use this way as workaround because Windows repository proxies connect only one Veeam B&R Console & Proxy. Also customer don’t want to create new Windows VM for management & licensing problems + repository problem.

Why socket based Veeam B&R console can not use Nutanix Proxy license. We are enter Nutanix proxy to paid license but it’s not used.

You should reach your sales representative:

- Ask him or her to convert VAN license for 5 VMs to instance-based license
- Merge new instance-based license with existing socket one

Then, install the new merged license into your backup server.
