What do you mean by "proper storage integration" in case of AHV?
We have not made any announcements re: Nutanix on VMware.

This is great news about AHV support!!!!

What does that mean for Veeam One? Will it also support AHV?

I suppose I'm just asking whether you will be delivering Nutanix storage integration, like you already have for HP, Nimble and NetApp?

No, it is not needed for AHV. The issue this integration solves is specific to VMware.

Does this mean that Enterprise Plus Licensing won't be required to backup AHV?

Will Veeam + AHV support backing up from Nutanix Snapshots and leverage CBT etc?

Licensing is still largely TBD, but note that today we don't require Enterprise Plus licensing to backup VMware and Hyper-V either.
The integration will definitely be using native snapshots and native CBT though.

This article on Veeam and Nutanix integration says AHV support will be added "later this year" http://www.channelbuzz.ca/2017/06/nutan ... hip-22014/.
What does this release depend upon? Should we wait for a specific update of VBR? Thanks!

The release is dependent on Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 3.

Awesome news! I'm glad that Veeam listened to the market. We ended up using Veeam's Agent for Windows to back up our production Nutanix AHV VMs, and we're still using B&R to play traffic cop to a couple of Veeam repositories. While the Agent for Windows is a very nice product, I certainly miss the convenience of agentless backups.

I'm also very glad that we were forward thinking enough to choose our hypervisor around the business' needs (ditching VMware and all of the extra costs and overhead associated with it) and not around our existing backup solution. That would have been a classic, old school IT mistake.

Any idea on when a beta will be available?

We don`t provide betas for minor releases. VAS 95u3 is going to be released in Q4.
Thanks!

Right now I have the ability to restore from an agent backup to Hyper-V with ease...which makes it incredibly easy to convert from VMWare to Hyper-V.
Will Veeam be adding any native functionality to restore to different hypervisor environments? We are about to implement Nutanix, but due to cost we can't reasonably put that in our up-and-coming DR site.

Ideally we'd like to run AHV in our production environment, and be able to restore to Hyper-V at the DR site. Obviously best practice would be identical environments but we want to take full advantage of the native Nutanix tools so something like this would greatly help the decision-making process.

Yes, it's quite possible that we will add this functionality down the road.

I just looked over the release notes for Update 3 and didn't see any mention of AHV integration. Any update on when that will be available?

@Danny it's dependent on Update 3 for the backup repository integration stuff, but still a separate backup appliance with its own release schedule. Beta should be available later this quarter, but I am not sure how public it will be. Thanks!

+ 1 for the beta please. We are selling Nutanix left right and center at the moment and its all having to go out with VMWare installed and the overhead of VMWare licensing. For a small 3 node cluster that can be 10% and more, of the overall purchase costs!!!! Update3 has been out for a while now so really looking forward to the AHV appliance and support that was announced almost 8 months ago now.

Yes please, is it the usual? Talk to your local Veeam SSE?

Knalbone, Scott.Anderson.

The procedure is indeed to work with the local Veeam SE because he/ she needs to support you in the process.

Deployed the Nutanix Veeam appliance on a Nutanix cluster running AHV 5.1.3.2. Added the Veeam B&R server without issues. When I try to add the Nutanix cluster on the appliance it gives me an error "The minimum supported version of the Nutanix cluster is 5.5. Version of current cluster is 5.1.3.2. According to the beta documentation AOS 5.1.1 or later is supported.

Extract from beta documentation.

NUTANIX SERVERS
 Supported versions of Nutanix AOS: 5.1.1 and later, 5.5.x. and later (including corresponding Community Edition versions).

Sorry about that. Please PM me the name of your Veeam sales rep, I will ask up the chain for someone to get back to you. Just cannot guarantee this will help - there's a chance beta program is already full in your region. Thanks!

same here, the email sent me to an email that bounced back , employee is not with veeam no more ( 6 months ago....) then i get my rep who is out of office for 1 month and never replies, then one tells me .. too late we sent all keys we add for beta....

time to check out competitors.. i guess being in the spotlight too long makes for bad customer service.

i stated that since we upgraded from vmware to nutanix we had to get this or move on, but .. on anwser.
