Nutanix to SOBR Capacity Tier
Hi All,
Just looking for a bit of guidance / advice as I can't figure out how to do this.
We have a VBR environment which includes backing up a Nutanix cluster, via the AHV proxy.
Backups are swept to tape for long-term airgap, these are currently rotated offsite but this may not be possible in the very near future.
To provide offsite protection, we've configured an SOBR and added an Azure Blob as the capacity tier.
The intention is to maintain 31 restore points on the local repo, with the last 7 days copied to the capacity tier.
The SOBR has just been configured with the "copy" option selected and the "move" option disabled.
The latest backup chain is currently offloading.
I'm not able to see in the Nutanix job where to configured any retention.
I guess my questions are:
1) Is this scenario possible
2) If so, what configuration is required to maintain the latest backup chain in the Azure blob and the desired offsite retention
Thanks in advance.

With "move" mode we can easily keep the oldest 7 days on Azure blob but it seems that not what you're after. No way to do this with a single AHV backup job / single SOBR that I'm aware of however if you wanted to set your existing job to 7 days and then create a secondary storage repo+separate backup job to maintain the full 30 days or perhaps a backup copy job with separate retention to a secondary repository that would do the trick.

Ok, thanks, food for thought at least.
Thinking from a different angle, is there any way we can apply GFS retention within the AHV backup job?

Not currently though we have received enhancement requests to add simple GFS support to AHV as we do for some other backup types.

Ok, thanks.
Sorry, I'm a little confused here, I must be missing something still.
How do we age the backup data offloaded to Azure Blob?

This is done through the SOBR offload policy and works seamlessly (assuming you're running an occasional active full for the AHV job(s)). We do not yet support the "in-job"/simple GFS definition w/in the AHV backup jobs as we do for VMware and Hyper-V for instance

Just wanted to chime in here and voice another "yes please!" for GFS support on AHV backup jobs. We are eagerly looking forward to this!
