I'm a new Nutanix AHV user here, trying to get application consistent backups and log truncation to work.
Can someone explain how I do this? Do I need protection groups?
I have installed Nutanix Guest Tools so I know I'm getting application consistent backups but why no log truncation?

Re: Protection Groups and Log Truncation
Log truncation is not possible. Veeam cannot do a guest application aware backup.
Backups are consistent, but not with Veeam Application awarness.
Please use the veeam Agent to backup such vms. You license should allow you to backup a server as vm and with the agent. Only a single license is used for the same vm.
See the limitations here:

Note that AHV Backup Proxy does not take part in guest processing of VMs. The creation of application-consistent snapshots is performed on the Nutanix AHV side. Also, keep in mind that Nutanix AHV does not perform data truncation. To perform data truncation, you can use customized pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts. Note that Veeam Software does not provide support for cases with customized scripts.
To create application-consistent backups, you can also use Veeam Agent for Linux or Veeam Agent for Windows.
