We would like to request the ability to do a full restore of an AHV VM from a cloud (iland) repository populated by a Veeam Cloud Copy job. Veeam’s current version (v11) does not allow a direct restore to a Nutanix AHV cluster but only an export to VM-Ware or Hyper-v for now.
This will allow AHV users backing up to Veeam Cloud Repository to have the same capabilities as users using other hypervisors like VMWare and Hyper-V.
The limitation has ultimately forced us to change our design on the fly revert to a hybrid Nutanix Vware install, removing much wanted security functionality and cost savings elsewhere. It is key to our 12 month road map and if not resolved, we need to consider our options to provide the security and cost savings previously designed into the Full Nutanix solution, one of those being to engineer Veeam out.

Re: Unable to restore from Cloud Repo
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
Yes, the better support for Veeam Cloud Connect (VCC) is a frequent request that we want to address in future versions.
As a workaround for now, I suggest using Veeam Agent for Windows / Linux instead of migrating to VMware. This is also the workaround suggested in other forum threads.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Unable to restore from Cloud Repo
Thanks that was considered and would be viable for a small business, but we host around a 1000 vms and devolving back to agent based, file backups is not a viable solution for all the reasons I won't list. We are tied into our Iland contract until early next year at which point we have to consider our position, which is why we are pushing for a solution as we'd rather not have to consider alternative backup solutions.

Re: Unable to restore from Cloud Repo
Veeam agents work block-based per default. They support image-based / snapshot based backup including bare metal restore.file backups is not a viable solution for all the reasons I won't list.
watch out for the What's New document of the versions we deliver until thenuntil early next year at which point we have to consider our position
