Veeam Backup Essentials and Nutanix AHV

Post by tgx »

I have a scheduled call with a VAR this week and we will be discussing
a migration from VMware to Nutanix. Part of that discussion will involve our
present Veeam solution (using VUL) and backing up Nutanix loads. We
also have desktops and other physical loads that are backed up. Just so
I go into this meeting pseudo educated, what products would be needed to
accomplish this scenario? My understanding from reading sounds like Veeam
for Nutanix is a standalone product.

Thanks.

AHV backup is part of the platform. All you need is Veeam B&R with the corresponding plugin enabled. Here is a bit more info on this > Installing Nutanix AHV Plug-In

VUL will cover everything for you: physical machines and AHV workloads.

Actually I think it's even installed by default starting from 12.1.1... either that or this is coming in 12.1.2. Let me check.
