Copy on-premise backup to Azure solution
Hy!
I am new in object storage theme. I know that if I woul like to store on-premise backup with backup copy, I have to use object storage. But I haven't done it before. How can I start to it? What is the prerequisite in in-premise and Azure site? Are there any best practise step-by-step documentation what you suggest for me?
Thanks.

Re: Copy on-premise backup to Azure solution
Hello,
the quick start guide is "step by step" and for more details there is the user guide. "Capacity tier" is the keyword.

Re: Copy on-premise backup to Azure solution
Not sure whether I follow you on that: backup copy jobs can target repositories of different types, not only object storage ones.I know that if I woul like to store on-premise backup with backup copy, I have to use object storage.
Moreover, the ability to directly point backup copy jobs to object storage repositories is available only starting from v12 (which is now in the early adoption stage). In version 11a and older you have to configure Scale-Out Backup Repositories and their Capacity Tiers to leverage object storage systems.
Thanks!

Re: Copy on-premise backup to Azure solution
Correct, the article describes how Scale-Out Backup Repository coupled with Azure Blob Capacity Tier should be configured.
However, in v12 you will no longer need to leverage the SOBR Capacity Tier to make use of object storage repositories - in v12 jobs can target object storage directly (as is in the case of other backup repositories). V12 is currently at the RTM stage with general availability happening in the next couple of weeks.
Stay tuned!

Not sure whether I follow your questions, but if you have an Azure subscription along with a storage account - that should suffice. Thanks!
