AWS S3 Glacier restore

I have recently been setting up AWS S3 backups. I have Backup and Replication 9.5 update 4. My past three weeks have been going up the bucket fine using a Copy Job through my SOBR. Nice setup going to Standard storage. Everything has been running smoothly for weeks.

In the past we have been using Cloud Connect. It's been a bit expensive so we are looking at S3 options to save some money.

This leads to my question. If I have data moved to Glacier storage, how hard is it to get that data restored? What process does it take in Veeam?

I know it takes time for AWS to move the data from Glacier to Standard, that is not my issue.

Anyone else done this before?

Glacier is not supported. Cloud tier supports S3, S3-IA and S3-IA1Z.

Glacier is only supported in VTL

Also, would I run into similar problems with Wasabi?

VTL is Virtual Tape Library. This is when you would use the AWS storage gateway in VTL mode and then veeam would use it as a tape library.

Seeing as how there is no "glacier" type storage with wasabi no. Wasabi is an S3 type storage (pricing is different) but they are comparable to AWS S3 in terms of support and api calls.

Looks like my AWS test may get retired.

I'll be looking for a Veeam to Wasabi "how to" here in the coming days. Can anyone point me that way?

Can i ask why that knocks AWS out of the testing? Is it a pure pricing decision?
