Azure Blob Store

Post by aecoles »

Hi,

I'm new to Veeam, so be gentle.

I've set up an Azure Blob Store and can see it clearly in the Backup Repositories.
However, when creating a Backup Job or a Backup Copy Job, I cannot select it.
What am I missing?

TIA

Hi Adrian and Welcome to the Community Forums!

You cannot backup to object storage as a standalone repo directly. That's why it is not reflected in job storage settings.
Scale-Out Backup Repository is a way to go here. Treat it as a scalable and expandable multi-tiered cluster of repositories where local ones comprise Performance Tier and object storage resides on Capacity Tier. Performance Tier is for fast data access and Capacity Tier is for the data accessed less frequently. Once created, you can select this scale-out repo as a target for your jobs.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Glad to help,
Oleg

Is Scale-Out Backup Repository an extra license?

For socket-based licenses, at least Enterprise Edition of VBR is required to be able to work with scale-out repositories. There are certain limitations on a number of scale-out repos and their extents though for Enterprise edition though, Enterprise Plus edition has no such limitations. Veeam Universal Licensing is effectively Enterprise Plus edition (except in Starter). Check and calculate all details here.

Cheers!
