Azure vs AWS for Veeam block storage?

Post by davidb1234 »

I want to setup a capacity tier to copy backups to. What is the cheapest option right now for block storage? We are a microsoft shop and have azure mfa so there is some benefit to doing MS. Any major pros or cons one vs the other? They are both pretty much deduplicating block storage right? Any major cost differences or recommendations to go one way or the other?

They are comparable except Azure does not currently support object level locking, so you cannot have immutable backups with it. This is coming on their end presumably before the end of the year, so we plan on supporting it with V12. However, you will likely not be able to enable immutability on the existing bucket and will have to re-deploy from scratch (new container).
