Backup local to externa repository
Is it possible to create a Backup Job in Veeam Backup On-Premise and do it on an external repository?
Without using the Scale Out Repository?

Re: Backup local to externa repository
Hi Ser
Veeam V12 can backup directly to Object Storage. Without using a SOBR.
But not to an external repository. External repositories are only used as a backup target by our public cloud backup products.
I recommend to create a new storage container in Azure and add it to Veeam as a backup repository. You can also use it for immutable backups.
Hope that answers your question. If not, please let me know.
Best,
Fabian

[MERGED] Azure repository without being able to use it.
I generated a blob storage and registered it in veeam Backup as a repository. But I want to make a backup job and use this repository but it doesn't list it. Why does this happen?

Re: Backup local to externa repository
I have the feeling, this is the same question as before.
No need for a second topic.
Can you share a screenshot where you have added it in Veeam?
- Have you added it as an external repository? That would be wrong. It must be added as a object storage repository:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
- What license are you using?
- Are you on Veeam B&R V12? You need v12 to use Object Storage directly as a repository for your backup job.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Backup local to externa repository
I added it as an internal repository, as shown in the image.
It only allows it to be used as an extent of a Scale Out Repository.
What I would like is to be able to set up a new backup job and backup directly to Blob Storage.
The version is V11a. License per socket.

Re: Backup local to externa repository
Please update to V12.
In V11, you must use it as a capacity tier in a SOBR.
In V12, you can use it directly as a repository. It's a new feature in V12.
You also have to recreate your Blob Storage and add it again to veeam, if you want to enable immutable backups.
Also a V12 feature.
Best,
Fabian
