Blob storage pricing
Say 50 VMs with backup Copy job to azure blib storage (total 50TB) in Azure with 7 says retention.
What would the cost be with default settings and 7 says retention? Finding the Azure price model a mess.
And what about the cost for a restore of f.ex 10 TB?

Hi Frank,
did you already look at the Azure Storage calculator? https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/prici ... #storage-1
You could also use the Restore Point Simulator if you have the backup storage requirements and understand retention and change rate as to how much space will be required in Azure.

Re: Blob storage pricing
From our initial costing in Azure, using Tim Dewin's RPS tool as Michael suggested (http://rps.dewin.me/), along with the Azure calculator, we've come up with the following figures.
50TB Block Blob Storage (Basic tier, LRS, Cool Access Tier, 40TB data write per month) - £486.25 per month (€550.18)
10TB Restore Cost - £83.95 (€94.99)
This is for the UK South region so obviously prices may vary but it should give you a good starting point

Re: Blob storage pricing
Ah great So with 7 days retention and all the syntethic merging in backup files etc., will this cost extra or be included?

Re: Blob storage pricing
I would play around with the numbers in both calculators to see what works best for you, I haven't run that amount in production yet but the put/get requests in Azure are pretty generous.

Re: Blob storage pricing
Hello,
Might I ask how will you configure your Veeam Repository?
If you use an Azure IaaS, you will soon encounter Azure limitation like
- the the maximum IOPS per storage account (for Unmanaged disk)
- IOPS for managed disks
- The maximum size of a disk (1TB)
- The maximum disk that can be attached to a VM
Also, you should notice that with Unmanaged disk, it's recommended not to have more than 40 disks per Storage Account.
FYI : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ ... ds-windows
Regards,
James

Re: Blob storage pricing
Hi James,
What I assume is that they are already looking at this from a v10 feature. In v10, in a scale-out backup repository scenario, you will be able to add an archive extent. That extent can be native Azure blob storage without any VM attached to it
(PS: The maximum size of a disk will increase from 1 TB to 4 TB in summer if I am not mistaken)

Re: Blob storage pricing
All,
remember that the archive tier will move complete backup sets, like the full files of a GFS retention, and there will be no synthetic operation happening in Azure (or another object storage).
