I am trying to clear up some confusion we have around block generation with V12 and object lock on the performance tier.
HelpCenter still says: "Immutable data is preserved as described in Block Generation (applicable only to Capacity Tier)." And Block Generation is only described within "Immutability for Capacity Tier," on the HelpCenter.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... on&ver=120
However, in testing we can clearly see that block generation is happening in the performance tier as well. Logically this only makes sense to do block generation, as you will have immutable objects dependent on other objects.
We are just hoping for some clarity on Veeam's official stance on block generation, and where it should happen.
Thank you!

Re: Block Generation on Performance Tier
It is used for immutable backups on object storage, regardless of how object storage repository is leveraged (standalone or as a part of a SOBR).
The only exception is SOBR Archive Tier as it processes full backups only, while the block generation optimization is designed to reduce immutability API costs of daily backups.
