As part of a project to shift our archive backups from on premise long term storage devices to AWS s3 Buckets (glacier) .
We used SOBR on prem -capacity-archive set up and move the Data from the hardware devices. This has worked a treat no issues.
The issue is we will Not technically assign backup jobs to this SOBR , so it will just sit there.
Is there a way now that all that legacy data is in glacier , to remove the sobr setup (as not needed) but retain the glacier veeam migrated backups.
We do have other Glacier tiers in Use for production backups or do we have to leave this set up here ???
I know this seems like a strange request/question but any ideas thoughts or someone that has done something like this before would be good to hear from them
If it has to stay in Place , thats a valid answer also.

Re: Can you remove an SOBR but keep backups in Archive. ?
Hi Steven
Yes, Data in Archive Tier is not lost when you remove the SOBR and backup jobs from your backups server.
You can always import the restore points back to a backup server (even to another backup server) and start retrieving backups for recovery.
Please be aware, without a SOBR, backups in capacity and archive tier will not be processed by our background retention job.
They stay there forever until you decide to delete all backups/objects.
Best,
Fabian
