I have a fairly simple v11 setup which backs up to a SOBR:
- Performance Tier ist local hard disk
- Capacity Tier is Wasabi with object lock and "Copy backups to object storage as soon as they are created"
I also have a Copy Job that copies everything from the SOBR to a USB disk.
I am now wondering, should I continue this setup in v12? Or should I change the SOBR to a normal local repository and create a second copy job that copies the data to Wasabi with object lock?
Creating a normal repo and a copy job to S3 seems like a simpler setup to me. But what drawbacks would it have?

Re: Continue using SOBR or switch to Backup Copy Jobs?
I forgot to mention: We have a very slow upload. The initial sync of the SOBR will take several weeks and then we will be uploading to the capacity tier about 16-18 hours per day.
Is using a backup copy job feasible then? (Or is it maybe even better once the initial copy is finally done?)

An Active Full backup to a SOBR will only offload changed blocks to the capacity tier.
An Active Full backup directly to object storage will store an entire full backup again.
If you have issues with upload speed, I would stay with a SOBR if you don't have any problems with it.
Best,
Fabian

Backup Copies will offload the same amount of backups as on a SOBR. One exception if you have enabled active full backups. Is using a backup copy job feasible then?
