Data Transfer out

I have a scaleout repository that is setup with a performance extent on-premises and capacity tier in Azure. The repo is configured with copy and move mode. I am seeing data transfer out charges every night from the Azure Storage Account - about 100GB or so on some nights. So data is leaving Azure. Could this be a normal part of the scaleout storage management process?
