Hi,
I couldn't find an answer to this in the documentation. Is there a way to perform a validation, check, or maintenance task to verify whether the files in Azure Blob Storage are actively being used by Veeam?
We're encountering a situation where Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) reports approximately 5TB in usage, while Azure Blob Storage shows over 20TB utilized. We'd like to run some form of check, validation, or cleanup before submitting a support ticket.
Best regards

Re: Discrepancy Between Veeam and Azure Blob Storage Usage
Hello,
If the storage account is managed exclusively by the VBR server, objects within it are tracked and retained based on the configured policies. I recommend verifying that VBR is the only application accessing the specified container, as external interference can lead to unexpected behavior.
I strongly advise against performing manual cleanup before opening a support ticket, as doing so could lead to backup corruption. Veeam Support has tools available to validate the list of objects in the repository and investigate the discrepancy.
Thank you!

Re: Discrepancy Between Veeam and Azure Blob Storage Usage
Hi,
Thanks for the update. The container is intended to be accessible only by VEEAM; however, we will double-check to confirm this.
In the meantime, we’ll submit a support case to obtain the necessary tooling to validate the list of objects in the repository and investigate the discrepancy. I assume that tool is only available through support.
Best regards

Re: Discrepancy Between Veeam and Azure Blob Storage Usage
Could it be that Veeam marked some objects for deletion and removed them from the database, but due to the unexpired immutability period, they are still stored in Azure?
