We are currently using the AWS tape gateway as our offsite backup. The tape gateways are painful, taking up huge amounts of our on-prem storage, and slow too.
It would be super nice to have a destination that I could set up for any cloud object storage provider (we use S3). Also that it would be set up in a way that would not have a lot of egress traffic from said cloud storage provider.

Re: Feature Request: Backup Destination to Object Storage (S3)
Hello bpr-backup.
I wonder if your goal is to setup some sort of archiving to S3 (similar to tape VTL setup) or you are looking for the possibility to use S3 as a target for your primary backup jobs? Thank you in advance.

Re: Feature Request: Backup Destination to Object Storage (S3)
I'd like to use S3 as the target, and not have to go through any kind of storage gateways.
Not really archiving either, more like a backup copy job to S3.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but starting from Update 4 you will be able to offload backups to Amazon S3/S3 compatible storage system, as those files age out.
If that does not answer your requirements (as it seems so), you will still need to keep tape gateway at hand.
Thanks!
