GFS + Wasabi without copy jobs

Post by dimaslan »

I see that in Veeam v10 there is the ability for a backup job to enable GFS.
I was thinking on how a combination of a backup job on a local ReFS repo which is then turned to a SOBR using Wasabi would work.
I was able to create a test job and did not encounter any issues, however has anyone tested this?
Any thoughts on what could go wrong?
Obviously, this would be a for a customer that has on premise BDR w/ good upload speeds but does not want or can afford a CloudConnect Veeam on a cloud to take advantage of Wasabi via copy jobs.

Thanks.

You can add Wasabi object storage repository as Capacity Tier to Scale-Out Backup Repository. Enable move policy and specify operational restore window.

This way, once GFS restore point falls out of the specified time period, it will be automatically offloaded to Wasabi storage.

Thanks!

Vladimir,

Thank you for the quick response. I am already using Wasabi as capacity tier of a SOBR, however for copy jobs, not Backup jobs. I was wondering if anyone has tried this on a backup job since I cannot try it right now.

Thanks!

The backup origin does not matter - restore points that meet the specified requirements are offloaded to Capacity Tier.
