So we use Veeam B&R, v11, to backup our VMWare machines, and offload a copy of all backups to an S3 bucket.
Can I go to EC2, create a windows instance, install Veeam B&R, import the backups from the S3 bucket and start restoring to EC2 ?
Do I need to stop Veeam in my on-prem while I do that? any conflict issues could rise otherwise?
am running into a couple of issues trying to do this test and wondering if I am missing something...

Re: How to use Veaam S3 offload bucket for a DR scenario ??
Hello,
yes that works and is supported if you really only "import" the backups. Don't create a SOBR with write access to the bucket in the new VBR server in EC2. That can cause data corruption.
Best regards,
Hannes

Thanks Hannes. Should I manage for my prod Veeam server to be stopped while my DR Veeam is performing its import process?

that's an option, but I remember most customers don't do it. In case you see issues, you can still stop uploads, but I would first "try it out" as it cannot break anything.
