Immutable Object storage

Post by gingerdazza »

Hi. I have a backup copy job that targets a third party object store, where the bucket is object-lock enabled. Veeam sends files there with object immutability set. I wish to start-again due to some issues, and delete the repository. What options do I have? If I get our third party partner to purge the bucket their-side, what do I need to do to remove the metadata on the Veeam side?

Hi, just delete all backups stored there and then the repository itself. This should do it. Thanks

Hi @gostev

But as some of the the files/objects are in that repo are immutable it will just fail, no?

It does not matter if some objects cannot be deleted from S3 bucket because you said you will purge the entire bucket separately in any case.

OK, see what you mean so...

1. In Veeam delete the backups
2. In Veeam detach the rep
3. Ask third party to delete bucket their side

Sound right?

Yes.

2. Delete the repository in Veeam (not sure what you mean by "detach")
