Issue Expanding Storage in Veeam Data Cloud Vault

Post by Woegerbaeur »

Hi everyone,

Case #07563576

Sorry if this is not the correct forum, but I couldn’t find a dedicated subforum for my Veeam Data Cloud Vault issue.

The Problem:
We purchased 1 TB of storage via https://my.veeam.com/ → Cloud Management → Vault Subscriptions (paid by credit card).

Now, we want to expand the existing storage, and while the option is visible, it is grayed out with the message "Please contact us."

We already opened a support ticket, but unfortunately, support could not help us and referred us to our reseller. However, the reseller responded with an offer for 5 TB of new storage because they cannot provide 1 TB increments. Additionally, this would result in a new Vault instance, rather than expanding our existing storage.

Another strange issue: We have now used 1.6 TB of storage and are receiving emails saying that our storage will soon switch to read-only mode—yet, so far, this has not happened.

This issue has been ongoing for over a month now, and I’m starting to feel like this product is not yet fully operational, or at least no one seems to have a clear solution.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or found a way to properly expand existing Veeam Data Cloud Vault storage?

If we don’t find a resolution soon, we are seriously considering switching to Wasabi storage instead.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Best regards

Hi @Woegerbaeur, Georgi Matev from the Veeam product team here. Apologies that support case #07563576 and the Vault expansion have not been resolved in a timely manner.

There has been some confusion with our support team regarding the proper procedure to handle this expansion given how it originated. We are clearing this up and you will be able to expand in your existing Vault instance.

While this is ongoing, we have made sure that you will NOT lose your write access. Your backups will continue writing to your Vault instance without interruption.

Hi, i bought 14TB of storage space from our distributor here in sweden, Veeam Data Cloud Vault (Core Advanced). If i look @ Dashboard i Veeam Data Cloud Vault there is an note that says "Once you go over your purchased storage, you’ll start paying per TB." What will happen when i pass the 14TB threshold? Do i have to manually create a new order with our distributor to expand the current vault with another 5TB (5TB is the minimum order) or will this happen automatically? If so, will it expand by 1TB @time or 5TB?

My understanding is that the entire process is automated. Once you exceed the purchased storage size, a sales representative will contact you, or at the end of the month, you will receive a larger bill. But if I were you, I would contact the distributor from whom you purchased Vault to clarify all these questions.

Thanks!

Hi, well i tried asked them but since this is all new they didn't really know how it would work, since i payed up front for 12 months. I Only want to make sure the backups won't stop when we hit the limit.

Backups definitely won't stop.

Either our sales representative or your reseller's representative will inform you about the excess.

As far as I know, in the case of a reseller, the excess is paid in chunks of 5 TB, but I might be mistaken here.

Plus, we are currently working on a system that will allow you to pay for the excess online.
