Migrate Veeam backups from iDrive.com

Post by iamloki »

We have about 135TB data backup to idrive.com using Veeam BNR.

If we would like to convert them to our own s3-compatible storage, what will be the best way to seed 135TB of data to our Datacenter to avoid use internet to upload them?

2nd question, if those backup data are uploaded to our s3-compatible storage, will the customers Veeam still be able to recognize the previous backup chain? Or need to rebuild the backup catalog etc to make it work?

I guess it will involve the data download from idrive to multiple big USB external hard drives to make it ready for data ingestion our s3-compatible storage.

Hello LR

I have some questions to give you a correct answer to your request:
- Is this a question for a Veeam Cloud Connect Environment or a Veeam Backup & Replication server?
- Which service from idrive.com did you use? Was it an object storage service or something different such as block or Shared Folder target?
- How do you want to use object storage? As part of a capacity tier? Did you use idrive E2 already as a capacity tier?

A few general answers:
- For Veeam Backup & Replication and direct to object storage repositories, the Data Migration must be done with our "Move backup" feature. Using usb disk to copy backup files to an object storage target is not possible:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
- Please note, "Backup Move" is not available for Cloud Connect Server.
- For Capacity Tier migrations, please follow the user guide: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
