Netapp storage S3 compatible immutability

Post by matteu »

Hello,

I have 2 questions :

-Is it normal for my Netapp S3 compatible object storage I see N/A on capacity and Free column when I go to Backup repository ?
-I setup my bucket and enable Object Lock with no retention period on Netapp side. Then on My Veeam repository I enable immutability for 30 days. I create a backup copy job to target this repository ( with GFS and 1 week (just to test) and try to remove the datas after the job complete. It says me unable to remove until the 29 july.

I'm not sure to understand why it's immutable until 29july because I configure only 30 days ?

Thanks for your help

Hello Matteu

Yes, that information is only available with object storages which supports our Smart Object Storage API:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
I setup my bucket and enable Object Lock with no retention period on Netapp side. Then on My Veeam repository I enable immutability for 30 days. I create a backup copy job to target this repository ( with GFS and 1 week (just to test) and try to remove the datas after the job complete. It says me unable to remove until the 29 july.
Block Generation adds + 0-10 days to the immutability period. It's explained in our user guide: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

For the 1) I can also see with your link an important note :
"This option works only if a tenant connects to the object storage through a gateway server. For more information, see the Backup to Object Storage section in the Veeam Cloud Connect Guide."

As I'm using direct connection, it's expected with or without SOSAPI compatibility right ?

For the 2) Thanks for your answer :)

Netapp doesn‘t have integrated the SOSAPI yet:
https://www.veeam.com/partners/alliance ... %5D=sosapi

It is expected that you won‘t see the „capacity/free space“ information in the backup console.
