Object First OOTBI Disaster Recovery

Post by apolloxm »

Hello,

Just think for Worst-Case Scenario: Veeam Backup Compromise. How to restore data from OOTBI? Here is my thinking. Please correct me if I have anything wrong
1.build a new Veeam Server
2. Connect with Object First OOTBI with currently key and configure as Repository
3. Rescan the new repository on the Veeam Backup Server
4. perform the Instant Recovery from Object Storage(Imported)

Hi apolloxm,

Yes, the strategy would be valid.

Similarly, v13 with the Veeam Software Appliance allows for a High Availability configuration, so depending on the nature of the compromise on the production site, you could failover to the secondary node and resume operations immediately.

Similarly, a Backup Server Configuration Restore can be used (it will require a rescan of all repositories after restoring however).

Hi apolloxm,

You can also test the scenario as well just make sure to use a read only IAM access policy as you don't want the test DR vbr to take ownership of the bucket. I tested this a while back but have not yet on 13 so I might have to circle back if you have any issues. https://objectfirst.com/blog/disaster-r ... and-ootbi/
