Object Storage Noob Question
Hi All
Long time user of Veeam, new to object storage. Bit of a noob question I am afraid.
I have my rention with Wasabi set to 30 days. Am I correct in saying that as long as my backup chain is less than 30 days, there won't be an issue? And if I was to set it to longer than 30 days, the backup would start to fail?
Should I also disable versioning on my Wasabi bucket? As I guess it is pointless as it will not have a chain in the versioning (except fulls I guess).
Re the part where we cannot protect from ransomware attacks in the setup of a Wasabi object storage, any solutions around that? I get why it cannot be used.
Thanks
Dave

Re: Object Storage Noob Question
Why dou you think it will be an issue if your retention is longer than 30 days?
What kind of job do you have and how are you targeting the object storage? Directly or by capacity tier?

Re: Object Storage Noob Question
Thanks for your reply.
I am using the new v12 integration and saving straight to Wasbi. I was under the impression they will remove anything older than 30 days under their set retention period (I asked them to lower it from 90).
Although I guess that is only affected if the items are deleted, right?
I believe the capacity tier is only when using scale-out, is that correct?

Re: Object Storage Noob Question
You're talking about the minimum storage duration policy which is only about the billing. If you upload 1TB today, you'll have to pay for 90/30 days even if you delete it after one day.

For the bucket you can and should enable object lock to protect your backups.

Re: Object Storage Noob Question
Perfect thank you.
It looks like I can't convert my existing buckets and this needs to be configured during setup, is that correct please?
