Offload only GFS Restore points to S3/Glacier

Hey Friends!

I have a use case where I am needed to only get only the Monthly GFS Full backups into Glacier for archival purposes and am wondering how I can achieve that.

So currently we have an on prem backup with 14 day retention, retaining 4 weeklies and 1 monthly on prem for GFS. Those backups sit on SOBR.
Now our aim as part of our cloud strategy is to have a monthly full backup archived in glacier for redundancy purposes.

To my understanding, I will need to configure Capacity tier and once they have aged (a very short time based on our use case) move them to glacier via the appliance.

However I could not see an option to use capacity tier for GFS points only. so I am checking now - is this plan achievable with current Veeam features?

Hi Phillip

It depends on what storage you have in your SOBRs performance tier:

- Performance Tier on AWS S3 --> You can directly offload monthly from performance tier extend to archive tier
- Performance Tier on block storage / other object storage --> You need to offload first to AWS S3 capacity tier and from there to Archive Tier.
