I have not used immutable s3 storage since I implemented it last, I thought I remember it working as I expect. My issue presently is that when I create a backup job targeting immutable S3 bucket, it sets the do not delete flag for 2 weeks regardless of the retention period I have set on the Veeam cloud
repository or the backup job itself. Settings are default on the S3 side. Only versioning and object lock have been enabled, nothing changed from AWS defaults.
I tried two fresh test jobs with different retention settings both on the backup job (which should not matter) and set 1 day on the S3 storage repository and the jobs still set immutability to 14 days.
Not sure what I am missing here. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Question on AWS S3 Immutable Storage
What specifically do you mean by "the jobs still set immutability to 14 days"?

Re: Question on AWS S3 Immutable Storage
Sorry I was not more clear.
If I try and remove the object storage for the backups in question it errors saying the backups are locked until and the date is 12 days (I said 14 earlier apologies) from the date of creation.

Re: Question on AWS S3 Immutable Storage
With object storage, there will be always your "immutability retention" + 10 days
It is possible that this is what you see. An additional 10 days plus the 1 Day from your configuration.

Re: Question on AWS S3 Immutable Storage
Perfect. That answers the question. Not sure how I missed that despite my reviewing the documentation but that explains it.
