Hello,
We are looking at replacing our tape drive. The costs for tape library has gone up a lot, and the service to take them off site hasn't been great for us in past few years. I was asked to take a look at sending it to the cloud vs writing to tape. We write Synthetic Fulls and then write those to tapes weekly. As far as the amount of data, should I be looking that the amount of data written to tapes weekly as the amount we'd need to send to the cloud, or the total space that we back up?
It looks like there are cloud storages that offer immutable backups that would give similar air gapped protection. If anyone uses Azure blob, can a global admin delete an immutable blob before the time is up?

Re: Replacing tape with cloud storage
Hi John
Object Storage based repositories are Forever Forward incremental. There will be one full backup and then only incremental offloads. Even if you configure GFS backups, we only offload changed blocks as objects and mark them as weekly, monthly or yearly. You can use our calculator for an estimation:

Deletion is not possible for a global admin. But if you stop paying your bills, Microsoft will delete your backups. If anyone uses Azure blob, can a global admin delete an immutable blob before the time is up?
