Restore from SOBR object store alone
Hi,
at the moment I have backups running on a sobr with local iscsi performance tier storage and Azure capacity storage tier.
During the transition from cold blob storage to hot blob storage (overall cheaper) I was wondering how I could access the existing backups still residing on the cold blob storage.
This also serves as a basic test in a catastrophic event.
I found no way to rescan the existing object storage part of the sobr and to list the existing backups.
Can anyone tell me how to access the data in the event of a total loss of the existing onprem infrastructure with only the data of the capacity tier available?
Thanks and Cheers,

Re: Restore from SOBR object store alone
Use a new Backup & Replication Server, add the Object Storage Repository => Rescan tnhe object storage repository (do not add to a SPBR) and you will see the backups under "backup" "imported".

Re: Restore from SOBR object store alone
Small clarification - to see backups under Imported node you will need to run "Import Backup" operation first. Thanks!

Re: Restore from SOBR object store alone
Thanks for the reply. I thought that that would be the process also.
I can see (in the Azure explorer) that there are still files left in the blob storage and still a considerable amount of data is lying inside the container, but if I do a rescan nothing is found. If I do an import after the rescan I get asked for the encryption key and then nothing is imported.
The status of the repository changes as I can only detach the repository and "rescan" oder "import" are no option anymore after executing these processes. There are no backups under "Backups (imported)" corresponding to this repository.
That's why I thought I must have done something wrong.

You said you migrated the data arround ? How did you do this?
Maybe open a support ticket and let our support team have a look?

Re: Restore from SOBR object store alone
As long as you input the correct encryption key, the backups should be visible to you after import operation. If this is not the case, it might be worth reaching our support team for further investigation. Thanks!

Re: Restore from SOBR object store alone
Well the password is correct. If I enter a wrong password I get an error message telling me to input the correct password.
I will reach out to the support team and open a case for this.
Thanks for the support.
