Restore VM from Wasabi Cap Tier. Incorrect object received, too small.

Post by goldstar4 »

So i have setup Veeam to work with Wasabi for immutability. I have setup SOBR with Capacity Tier copying files from Performance Tier. Backups are happening. I have encryption set up and things look good. I wanted to test restoring from the capacity tier at Wasabi. I put the perf tier on maintenance. I started a full VM restore on a small VM (50GB) I had backed up to the perf tier and cap tier. I changed the location I would restore to and changed the name of the restored VM.

It starts restoring and registers the restored VM at the location I selected. Then it gives me an error at restoring hard disk 1. It shows 15.4GB downloaded from the capacity tier, 0 B copied from the perf tier. Then a final error of "Restore job failed Error: Incorrect object received, too small: path: etc. etc."

Why would it be incorrect object restored? Why is it 'too small' ?
Weird. Goldie.

It would be best to open a support case, as requested when you created this topic.
Looks to me like a technical issue, where debug logs needs to be analyzed.
Thanks.

The fix for this was throttling the connection to Wasabi to prevent timeouts. Had to change the network traffic rules in Veeam so the Internet was limited to a lower Mbps. I tested at 20 and 50 Mbps and had good results. Thanks for help. Goldie.
