"object-storage-as-backup-target-f52/s3- ... 97126.html"
Referring to the above discussion and with my many attempts to use the archive tiering process wizards steps in VBR,I see that I cannot browse to an Oracle's archive bucket.(Glacier Class)
Veeam currently only support S3 compatible "standard" class at the moment? Is that correct?

Re: S3 compatible with Glacier storage class
Hi Sean
Correct, as confirmed in the other topic.
Maybe you can share with us what you are trying to achieve.
Using your Oracle storage for pur archive tier?
Best,
Fabian

Re: S3 compatible with Glacier storage class
Based on experience with Glacier like processing and vendors, Veeam requires that the vendor works with us on a Veeam Smart Object API integration in order that Veeam Backup & Replication enables the glacier protocol based "Veeam SOBR Archive Tier" processing.
I think Oracle did not do this yet.
Here is the actual list: https://www.veeam.com/solutions/allianc ... chive-tier

Re: S3 compatible with Glacier storage class
In my search to make the Oracle S3 archive bucket usable with VBR, I found a Windows tool to map my Oracle Archive bucket in Glacier mode. Coupled with the MKLINK MS tool, one can map the Mapped S3 bucket to a folder and share it, which means I can use it as a Veeam Repository. I am testing backup and recovery now, as well as file copy.Is this something Veeam will support ?

Re: S3 compatible with Glacier storage class
No, remember Glacier is not really an online storage.
Secifically when we work with a disk backend (your folder) we expect random IO processing which kills or grills the object storage by I/Os and as well would cause higher than expected latency. Depending on which Glacier mode it operates (usually it goes offline to tape) a random access pattern would not work at all.
Anyway we do not support block/file storage backed by S3 or Tape.
What you can do is to check on VTL options that can use the Oracle Archive Tier as backend. Our Tape processing expects long mount times and in general would work better there. You then need to create backups to a regular storage and then do Backup to Tape jobs for writing into the VTL (which is then backed by Oracle Archive Tier).
