S3 & data compression?

Post by erbruening »

Hi everyone,

I have a NetApp StorageGRID configured as an S3 target for our Veeam 12 environment.
We are currently planning to upgrade Veeam 12 to Veeam 13.
In the documentation, we found data compression options. -> https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
Does data compression also work for S3 targets?
If so, does anyone have experience with enabling data compression for S3 targets?

Kind Regards

Hi Eric,

Check NetApp documentation, some appliance with S3 are able to setup a compresion internally instead external, this happened with appliacen that include deduplication.
About your question, yes it works but more compresion means more recovery time.
For us Optimal / High is enough.
