Scale out repository to azure
Dears
We are in process to setup scale out repository to azure cloud blob storage selection made for COPY
Since our onprimese backup soxe is 100tb with dedup storeonce appliance it is 40tb.
We need to know scale out repository do dehydration of backup ? Or it sent the dedup meta data backup to azure cloud?

Re: Scale out repository to azure
Yes, SOBR will do dehydration of backup. However, our object storage integration is forever-incremental, so effectively we will "deduplicate" data between multiple full backups, which is where bulk of the savings comes from with deduplication storage appliances. Thanks!

Re: Scale out repository to azure
Ok thanks for replying back
E.g I have sql server 1Tb when veeam backup with applaince dedup its size is reduced to 400gb
When scale out repo will sent this backup it will be 1tb first time ?
If I keep 3 restore points the incremental deltas are smaller in size like 50gb
On scale out since its second backup it will same size or reduced
The issue is sending dehydrated data will have major impact on our internet link

Re: Veeam deduplication to azure veeam dedup
Can you clarify what you are trying to achieve?
Veeam Backup & Replication uses deduplication for backups on-premises and as explained in this post, using Azure Blob in SOBR will send the data over. If you want to save costs, you can use Azure Box and all this is explained in our user guide.

Re: Veeam deduplication to azure veeam dedup
Syed Zeeshan Ali, kindly, avoid creating multiple threads regarding the same issue (this is your third of fourth attempt). The duplicated threads not only complicate the communication, but also put additional load on forum administrator that have to clean the mess afterwards. Thanks!

Re: Scale out repository to azure
In addition two threads talking more or less similar issue, you'd posted the same question in different existing threads - those were removed later.
Anyway, glad to hear that we have clarified both: product logic and forum recommended practices.
Thank you for understanding!
