Setting up Synology Object Storage
Hello All,
I am having a few problems in setting up a new S2 object Storage to my Veeam Backup
I am using the NFR version.
I have looked through the guild and when i go through the wizard i get stuck on the Bucket part.
When i click Browse i will get a error "Failed to load S3 configuration: HTT exception WinHttpSendRequest 12017:The Operation has been cancelled error code 12017
I tried creating a case with veeam but as i am using the NFR version there dont want to know and close the case.
To what i can see when i been looking is the veeam server cant see the internet, i have checked that the internet is fully accessible from the veeam server.
Any ideas anyone?
PS, i have dyslexia so please be kind

Re: Setting up Synology Object Storage
Hi Andy
Welcome to the forum.
Synology is not on the Veeam Ready list (also not unoffically compatible). So we cannot say, if Synology has implemented the S3 API correctly (several vendors have incomplete / buggy implementations)
The error message doesn‘t seem related to your internet connection. I assume you have the synology in the same Location as the backup server?
It seems, the connection is failing at the s3 get bucket step.
Thanks
Fabian

Re: Setting up Synology Object Storage
Hello
I am using the Synology new Object storage, with my Synology online service,
My Synology NAS is on the same network as my Veeam server and both are at the same location
I am able to put in the details of the object service (as per there guild) but you get to a screen where you need to select the bucket this is where i get the stated error.
The only things I could find online says about the Veeam server not been able to connect to the internet but I have already tested that and that the sever can access without any issues.
I dont know what else to try
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew
Try to use an S3 browser from your backup server to access the buckets. This way you can check the s3 connection outside of veeam:
https://s3browser.com/
Thanks

In that case, your best bet is to keep opening support cases until our Customer Support has some spare resources to pick your case up from the free products queue and investigate the issue. Unfortunately, we cannot troubleshoot environment-specific or storage-specific issues over forum posts. Thanks!

Re: Setting up Synology Object Storage
Please share the new support case ID here as well, as we ask in the forum rules when you click New Topic. Because sometimes dev/QA folks reading these forums get interested in a particular case and ask support to pull it out from the free products queue.
