SoBR offload data path with object storage

Post by Gunnersaurus »

Hi,

If I have a SoBR where the performance tier is configured with S3 compatible storage and the capacity tier is configured with another S3 compatible storage (same storage vendor) using the 'copy backups' option.

When an offload to the performance tier is initiated, I'm trying to understand how the data flows from the S3 storage in the performance tier to the S3 storage in the capacity tier. Is there a staging server where the data transfers through or does it somehow copy straight from one S3 storage system to the other?

Is the gateway server specified for performance and capacity extents? If so, they will be responsible for data transfer.

If a gateway server is not specified for capacity extent, then, the mount server of a performance extent will take this role.

Thanks!
