Case# 07114348
Environment Details
-Veeam 12.0
-SOBR with Azure Blob Capacity Teir
Our company updated its data retention policy, extending yearly backup retention requirements from 7 to 10 years. We need to make that change to existing backups stored in our "Capacity Tier" and "Capacity Tier (Orphanded)".
A few questions:
1. Is there a process for updating short-term and GFS retention settings for backups stored in the capacity tier?
2. How can I see the current retention settings applied to each backup stored there? Is there a report we can pull, or is this data stored in the database somewhere?
3. We'd prefer not to update each backup individually, as there are hundreds. Is there a programmatic method?
Thanks for your guidance.

Re: Updating GFS Retention on Capacity Tier Backups
Hello Mike
Q1 + Q3: You can update the job settings for backups in <Capacity Tier>. Job retention settings are controlling the retention period of backups in the capacity tier.
Q2: You can check out the Job settings for backups in <Capacity Tier>
"Capacity Tier (Orphaned)": Orphaned backups are backups without a backup job attached. It may be possible to create a new backup job with the required retention settings and map the orphaned backups to the new job. The backups will then be deleted according to the retention settings of the new job.
Best,
Fabian
