V10 RTM | Throttle to Azure Blob storage
Question around Network Traffic Rules when going to Blob Storage.
Currently in V10 RTM i have the default rule "Internet - From:any To:Internet" enabled with a network throttle of 6Mbps. Encryption is enabled as well.
However when a backup job is running to Azure Blob storage, i still see my bandwidth usage over 6Mbps being consumed. I have 12Mbps upload and see the pipe fully saturated at times by the Veeam server.
Should the default "Internet" rule apply to offloading to Azure Blob storage?

Re: V10 RTM | Throttle to Azure Blob storage
Hi Tucker,
As stated in this article, network traffic can be throttled only between backup infrastructure components, which have Data Mover service installed.
And Azure Blob doesn't host one.
Thanks,
Oleg

Re: V10 RTM | Throttle to Azure Blob storage
So currently there is no native way in Veeam to throttle transfer speeds to Azure Blob correct?
We would have to implement something on our own at the network level?

Re: V10 RTM | Throttle to Azure Blob storage
Correct.
Even if you go with a gateway server configuration to proxy access to Azure Blob (in backup repository properties), during SOBR Offload Job traffic will still be throttled only from SOBR performance extents to the proxy you configured.

Hi all,
Oleg, that's interesting...
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ttling.png
From the user guide on proxies, it looks like there is a built-in throttle for "The Internet", and I'm positive I've seen Anton Gostev comment on this before. Is this not where you'd set throttling for S3/Azure offloads? Am I mistaken here?

Correct, by using the pre-defined "Internet" rule you can throttle offload activity to Azure Blob storage. Thanks!

Hi guys,
I am sorry, I misunderstood this. Please disregard my comments.
@soncscy and @veremin are right.
Internet rule allows to throttle traffic for SOBR offload jobs.
Best wishes,
Oleg

So in this case the result i am seeing of the job not being throttled is not be design?
Should i open a support ticket at this point to have it looked into?

Re: V10 RTM | Throttle to Azure Blob storage
Hello,
Our customer confirmed not effective traffic throttling on SOBR.
Helpcenter says the following components can use traffic throttling.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
But it seems the traffic throttling doesn’t work.
The customer is using Zadara object storage and it has a private address.
Does the object storage need to have a global address, if the customer uses SOBR data offload?
Then the customer has to use “Internet” traffic throttling rule?

You should create an additional Network Traffic rule in Veeam for the private address of object storage.
