Veeam 12 S3 object storage and Glacier
So now that we can backup up to S3 directly in Veeam 12 B&R, how would we go about creating the archive tier to move S3 backups into Glacier? Would we still setup a SOBR repo and add the S3 and Glacier buckets to the SOBR repo?

Hi Andi
A SOBR is always required in order to use Glacier. However, when you can have SOBR with only with Performance and Archive tier. Capacity tier is not required (optional) when you use AWS S3 buckets as the performance tier extents.
In other words, you can have the following configuration as your SOBR:
Performance Tier:
- Amazon S3
Capacity Tier:
- Not used
Archive Tier:
- Amazon S3 Glacier
In this case, data will be archived from Performance Tier directly to Glacier.
Best,
Fabian
