Veeam backup to MS Azure options

Post by ARycroft »

Hi,

I have a Microsoft Azure tenant, and on premise Veeam backup solution and infrastructure.

Is it possible to use the Microsoft Azure as a replacement for "tape", i.e. I just want to store the backups in Azure, and be able to restore to my onsite infrastructure if possible?

How do I then allow for the Veeam backups to be restored and run in Azure using the Veeam Disaster recovery orchestrator? Are all the components included with the VBR Premium subscription?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello Andrew
Is it possible to use the Microsoft Azure as a replacement for "tape", i.e. I just want to store the backups in Azure,
Yes. Azure Blob can be used as a capacity tier in a SOBR or you can use backup jobs/ backup copy jobs to write backups directly to a Azure Blob repository.
Capacity Tier: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Azure Blob Repository: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
and be able to restore to my onsite infrastructure if possible?
All VM restore options are supported from Azure Blob: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
How do I then allow for the Veeam backups to be restored and run in Azure using the Veeam Disaster recovery orchestrator?
You need to create Cloud Plans in VRO. Only vSphere VMs and Veeam Agent backups are supported. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vro/u ... tml?ver=70
Are all the components included with the VBR Premium subscription?
Yes. The license allows you to use Azure Blob Storage as a target and VRO to orchestrate and test your recovery scenarios.
All features available with Veeam Data Platform Premium is documented in this PDF:
