These might seem like basic questions but searching for message I wasn't able to find anything that was helpful.
I have set up a Backup Copy job to S3-compatible storage (iDriveE2)
(1) Single Server 2-4 VM's, Multiple Sites - at the moment just exploring 1 site
Do I create a separate repository to separate Bucket for each VM or Host Server?
(2) S3 Browser shows NO files i.e bucket empty.
Are the backups hidden by Veeam?
(3) Test Recovery.. Object Storage (Copy) > Instant Recovery
Where is this recovered and will it interfere with my Live VM ??
(4) Immutable option when creating a Bucket. Is this handled by Veeam or S3 storage?
Do I have to do anything to free up space

Re: Veeam Backup to S3 beginner question

Do I create a separate repository to separate Bucket for each VM or Host Server?
>>>>> typically folks use a single repository for many VMs/hosts. Please work with your object storage provider to see if they have any recommendations for maximum number of objects per/size of a bucket
(2) S3 Browser shows NO files i.e bucket empty.
Are the backups hidden by Veeam?
>>>>> you should see the prefix structures and the objects in the bucket
(3) Test Recovery.. Object Storage (Copy) > Instant Recovery
Where is this recovered and will it interfere with my Live VM ??
>>>>> depends on where you tell VBR to restore the data. You can replace the existing source or you can restore to a newly named source.
(4) Immutable option when creating a Bucket. Is this handled by Veeam or S3 storage?
Do I have to do anything to free up space
>>>>> the object storage needs to support s3 object lock. You need to specify the bucket should use object lock when creating the bucket or afterwards. Then within VBR you need to specify that immutability will be used.
Hope I was able to answer your questions.
