We now have a normal backup repository with a NAS, backup to NAS and copy job to Veeam Cloud Connect environment.
We are looking into Object Storage (Azure).
What we want is to create monthly, yearly backups to local storage and then copy it to Object Storage for achiving purposes, but we would also like to keep our Cloud Connect configuration for daily backup.
If we want to use Object Storage we need to add a Scale-Out Backup Repository and we are testing with the same NAS and it shows 'All jobs and backups using this extent will be automatically updated to point to the scale-out backup repository.
Does that automatically mean that we cannot use the normal backup repository anymore for backup to NAS and copy job to Veeam Cloud Connect?
If we want to keep our existing configuration, do we need a another NAS or other local storage for the Object Storage configuration?

Re: Veeam Cloud Connect and Object Storage side by side
Just to be sure - you want to introduce Scale-Out Backup Repository at tenant's side not at Service Provider's one, correct?
In this case existing jobs pointed to NAS repository will be automatically updated - they will use SOBR as new backup target and continue working as expected. Cloud backup copy job also should not experience any issues.
However, if you attach object storage as Capacity Tier to SOBR and enable copy policy on it, all backups located on this SOBR will be copied to object storage, not only GFS ones.
Thanks!

Yes, we want to add SOBR at tenant side. What we don't want is that all backup files (Fulls and Incrementals) that are already on the NAS are being copied to Object Storage, but that is going to happen if we connect Object Storage to the SOBR and choose 'Copy' if I understand correctly.
I was hoping it was possible to use different shares on the NAS, the existing share for backup to NAS and Cloud Connect and a new share for Backup to NAS and Object Storage.
But Object Storage uses the entire NAS.

Not exactly: when you enable copy policy, you will be asked whether it should copy all backups or only latest backup chains. What we don't want is that all backup files (Fulls and Incrementals) that are already on the NAS are being copied to Object Storage, but that is going to happen if we connect Object Storage to the SOBR and choose 'Copy' if I understand correctly.
