Veeam with DataDomain SOBR Azure

Post by Linmon »

Hi Veeam Community,

We got a request to set up at DR on Azure, current on-prem virtualization is VMWare vSphere, Veeam Backup Server with Dell DD, possible for us to set up SOBR to Azure with the Dell DD? From the KB looks like DD is not for "Source" as a backup copy.

Veeam Server > DD > Azure BLOB

Hi Linmon,

Yes, Deduplicating Storage Appliances are allowed as the Performance Tier in a Scale-out Backup Repository.

Similarly, you can add the Azure container as an Object Storage Repository and perform Backups or Backup Copies directly to Azure to meet your 3-2-1 requirements.

Lots of options, but either as part of a Scale-out Backup Repository or as a regular Object Storage repository works.
