Map capacity tier backups to another backup job

Post by TRE3 »

Hello!

Several years and Veeam versions ago, we were forced to use backup copy jobs to create GFS restore points. Then, we merged the backup copy target repository with Azure Blob storage by using a SOBR. Now, we'd like to delete the backup copy job because we can use simple backup jobs to create GFS backups. But we want to map the Terabytes of capacity tier data that has been created with copy jobs to a normal backup job without re-uploading / downloading everything or losing cloud data.

How do we achieve this goal?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom

A Backup Job cannot mount Backups created by backup copy jobs.
You have to start a new backup chain.

So there is no possibility or workaround (database script / PowerShell commandlet)? If not, this means that we have to stick to our copy job forever if we do not want to re-upload all the data again? :-(

Backup format is not compatible between Backup Job and Backup Copy Job.
PowerShell and Database queries won't help in such situation.

We are looking into the possibility to change this limitation for the new backup file format in V12 in a future version of Veeam. But no ETA of targeted version to share.
