Release space in Repository

Post by fernando.souza »

Hello Gyes,

I'm new to Veeam environments.
I have a full repository space, what is the best way to release space in this repository?

Hi Fernando

Is this about Object Storage?
Lowering the used retention in the backup jobs will release some of the used storage.
If you have enabled Object Lock, then you have to wait until immutability is over for the offloaded objects.
Remember, Veeam doesn't offload backup files to object storage, only unique blocks of the backup files. If you lower the retention to keep less full backups, you don't regain the space of multiple full backups. If the blocks of the full backups are the same for other restore points, Veeam will not be able to delete them.
