Space Savings: OnPremise Object Storage vs Cloud Object Storage

Post by TonioRoffo »

I'd like to know if using local object storage gives any advantage in storage size.

Will synthetic/full backups rewrite already known blocks on the storage, or is that kind of "deduplication" the responsability of the object storage provider?

Thanks

Hi Yves

I split your question in a new topic.

The reuse of offloaded blocks is a Veeam feature. It doesn't depend on the object storage you use. And it also works for active full backups in the same job, not only synthetic fulls :)
You can either use on-premise object storage or cloud object storage, the space savings will be the same.
With on-Premise object storage, you will save probably some money because there are no API Calls or Egress costs.

Thanks
