Speed up; Object storage repository cleanup

Post by Erwin Linker »

hi,

Is there a way to speed up the "Object storage repository cleanup" process?
Sometimes there are multiple Offload jobs running with the status "Object storage repository cleanup" with different lead time. One with 06:33:54 and a different with 13:10:29.

Regards,
Erwin

Hello! Only by talking to the object storage provider, I am afraid. What object storage do you use? Thanks.

Hi Gostev,

We use our own S3 Object Storage based on NetAPP. You think it is a communication problem? Our the speed of the S3 environment?

Yeah, in your case it's likely the latter, as I heard this about NetApp S3 implementation before. Further, keep in mind that on-prem S3 compatible object storage is a fairly new market where most vendors still have "V1/V2" type of offering in terms of maturity. On-prem object storage as a whole needs time and there's much innovation still to be done. Cloud object storage providers are miles ahead in that sense.
