Hello,
testing for a DR event, when I import our backups from S3, then click to open an imported backup job, it prompts for the encryption password then proceeds to decrypt for hours, 6 or more!
Is there a way to only decrypt the VMs we intend to restore and delay decryptions of the rest?
Also, when decrypting, what does it actually do? does decrypt all the backups, maybe years worth? stores the clear text form in the same S3 bucket?
Thanks,
Mohamed.

Re: Why is decryption of S3 imported backups taking hours and hours?
Hi Mohamed
You cannot decrypt only a single VM from a backup job.
Running for more than 6 hours doesn't look expected. Please open a support case and let our customer support check the logs and the progress of the decryption process. Logs will tell us if the process is frozen or still running.
Don't forget to provide me with the case number, so I can check what happenings from our side (product management).

The backup won't be rewritten in clear text form. The process is explained here:Also, when decrypting, what does it actually do? does decrypt all the backups, maybe years worth? stores the clear text form in the same S3 bucket?

Re: Why is decryption of S3 imported backups taking hours and hours?
Thanks Fabian. I am going to retry and will open a case if the issue persists.
For the second question... my confusion is that I did not try to restore a VM yet. I only clicked to open the backup job, so I can see what VMs are there and what restore points are there.
Is it decrypting the job's metadata maybe?

Actually, on my second try, I noticed that the step taking hours is actually some repair work!
