Linux versus Windows Backup Repositories? Does it matter?

Post by akwete » Jan 20, 2019 9:40 pm

Any advantages for pointing a Veeam Agent for Windows to a Windows backup repository? Likewise for the Linux Agent and Linux backup repository? I've got a physical workload fleet that's majority Linux but wish to use directly-attached storage on the VBR backup server as a backup repository.

Hi,

Linux repository allows you to use a more vast range of different filesystems to store backups on (e.g. Linux repo can access NFS shares, while the same task would be more complicated on Windows). Other than that, there is not much difference.

Thanks!
