Physical and Cloud

Dear VEEAM-Team,

I am just making the first steps learning about your software...
Can you please tell me the specific differential between those two platform types "Physical" and "Cloud"?

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to Veeam Community Forums and thanks for posting!

If we talk about different workloads, then the "physical" term represents a physical device: a desktop/laptop, a physical server, etc., while "cloud" means a workload residing in a cloud: a VM running in Microsoft Azure, in AWS, or VMware Cloud, and so on.

Please let us know if you require additional clarification.

Hi,

thanks for answering that quickly!

Ok sounds clear, but the problem is: I definitely know that all of our Veeam-Clients are installed on physical devices.
We don't have other devices in use…
Do you know why they are categorized as a "cloud" though?

Hi Lisa,

In the Veeam Availability Console, the cloud means a virtual machine.

Are you a service provider?
